Memorial Day Birthday

I usually go crazy over birthday parties. But, since my husband was only turning 32, and I am super busy with a 9 month old... I planned a very low key birthday beach party at our home. I catered in our favorite local Mexican Restaurant, made cupcakes and cookies, and just relaxed. Easiest birthday I have ever planned. Jake's first birthday will be quite different I'm sure. ;)

Here are some pictures of the day:

March 2010

In March my husband and I traveled to Destin, Florida for my father in law's wedding. I wanted to post a few pictures of a simple wedding on the beach. It was beautiful, simple, and at sunset. Perfect for a beach atmosphere! I was there photographer for their event! Just me and my little Canon G11 camera!

Girls night anyone?

Came across this recipe while looking through my favorite blog... Would this not be perfect for a girls night?

Ingredients:

1 bottle champagne - chilled
1 lemon - FINELY zest half of lemon & juice whole lemon
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 box of small frozen strawberries - thawed

Directions:

In a sauce pan make your simple syrup by cooking water & sugar over medium heat until it boils & thickens.
Take off of heat & let cool. Once cooled, place in refrigerator for a few hours allowing it to cool completely. In a glass baking dish add your chilled bottle of champagne. Add your simple syrup. Add the lemon zest & lemon juice. Stir & place in freezer. Stir occasionally.
Leave in freezer for 3-4 hours until slushi consistency. Before you’re ready to serve your slushis, add in the bag of thawed strawberries & juice. Mix well. Serve in chilled glasses. Garnish with fresh mint if you like.

Cheers,

B
